The Zentangle class was a great experience that embraces calmness, relaxation and rejuvenation. The class led by a group of volunteers was held at DDS in a very conducive environment with the instructor teaching via Zoom.
Throughout the 4 sessions, we were asked to be mindful; observe and relax our body and mind, make a stroke at a time and do not rush (放轻, 放慢, 放松). Most of the students agreed that the artistic part of us were “awaken” through Zentangle.
However, due to COVID-19 situation, the 4th lesson was held online for everyone. While we were still working hard to follow the instructor's guidance, I missed the conducive environment, the encouragement from peers during class as well as the joy and laughter when we shared with everyone our creations. The group learning was much more motivating as compared to individual learning.
Having said that, I would like to show my great gratitude to our Hong Kong instructor LingLing, who had led us step by step to not only doing Zentangle but also applying Chan, and to the volunteers for making the in-house learning possible while keeping COVID-19 at bay.
